OUR MISSION
The Basement Theatre is here to exceed all expectations with exceptional programming that touch and inspire our community to connect with theatre and the arts.
OUR VISION
We want to give opportunities to explore, ignite, nurture and engage talent, passion and creativity in all who step through our doors, especially the youth of our community.
OUR VALUES
The Basement Theatre wants to enrich our community through bold, outstanding theatrical and educational experiences by engaging core values that are essential to a positive community experience.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY |
RESPECT |
INCLUSIVITY |
Our shows will generally have no age restrictions for either watching it or being on stage to perform. It is important that our content is deemed appropriate for all members of an average family. We take no stand on current political, social and mass media controversies and do not present anything on stage that is considered un-redeeming or valueless. Occasionally we will present a show that will have some adult themes but only as part of the presentation of the original script.
|
We demand respect be shown towards everyone and everything that we hold in high esteem. We want to convey a sense of admiration for good and valuable qualities and honour who we are and what we have by exhibiting care, concern and consideration for their needs or feelings. We do not take part in the controversies fixated on by politics, mass media and gossip. We are a non-profit agency and public benefit is our business.
|
We welcome everyone to be a part of The Basement Theatre experience, to hear and value their opinions and inform our decisions. We provide a safe space to enable artist, theatre-makers and audiences to ask questions and seek answers.
|
COLLABORATION |
CREATIVITY |
We work in collaboration with our community to help create, curate and deliver the best possible programming and experience for audiences and artists alike.
|
We want to celebrate and engage in imaginative thinking and believe in the creative potential of our kids. We seek out new discoveries and nurture creative instincts by providing a safe platform
